Department:OPS | Campus Operations HVAC and ControlsDepartment's Website:Summary of Job Duties:This position is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of Ice Machine and Refrigeration Equipment that serves the medical and research facilities on the UAMS Campus. These systems are essential to patient care and critical research operations, directly impacting patient health and outcomes. The Ice Machine/Refrigeration Technician will be tasked with performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on a wide range of commercial refrigeration systems.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED plus one (1) year of HVAC Refrigeration experience.EPA 608 Universal License.Computer program proficiency level: Intermediate.Valid driver’s license with fewer than 12 points on their Motor Vehicle Record.Preferred Qualifications High school diploma/GED plus five (5) years of HVAC Refrigeration experience.Technical degree in electronics, may be accepted in place of experience.HVAC Mechanical license in Accordance w/ACA 17-33-3001.Additional Information:These include, but are not limited to, hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors, air-cooled and water-cooled condensers, evaporative coils, thermostatic expansion valves (TXVs), solenoid valves, and various refrigeration control systems.The role involves performing regular preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on refrigeration systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards.The technician will diagnose issues using advanced refrigeration diagnostics, including refrigerant leak detection, pressure testing, and electrical system analysis.
