gpac is working with a leading food manufacturer who is seeking an experienced Director of Maintenance to oversee all plant maintenance, reliability, and facility operations in a high-volume production environment. This role leads a small multi-skilled maintenance team and is responsible for asset reliability, regulatory compliance, and the safe, efficient operation of production lines, utilities, and ammonia-based refrigeration systems.Key Responsibilities Direct daily maintenance of all production lines, industrial ovens, utilities, building systems, and grounds. Ensure reliable operation of ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, boilers, HVAC, electrical distribution, water, and wastewater systems. Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize uptime and equipment life. Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, SQF, OSHA, EPA, and local building/fire codes. Oversee contractors and manage spare parts inventory and vendor performance. Own full PSM/RMP compliance for ammonia systems over 10,000 lbs, including PHAs, MOC, MI, training, investigations, emergency planning, and regulatory documentation. Champion safety culture, regulatory adherence, and sustainability initiatives. Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance supervisors and technicians; set and manage performance metrics. Manage maintenance budgets and lead capital projects such as equipment installations, facility upgrades, and refrigeration improvements. Utilize CMMS platforms and reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, downtime, PM compliance) to drive continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or equivalent experience. 8+ years of progressive maintenance leadership in food or frozen manufacturing. Strong technical experience with ammonia refrigeration, production automation, and plant utilities. Proven adherence to SQF/GFSI, sanitation design, OSHA/EPA, and PSM standards. Experience managing budgets, capital projects, and vendor relationships. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational capabilities.
