 Job Description - POWER AND STRUCTURES ENGINEER 1 (250000MX)Job Description POWER AND STRUCTURES ENGINEER 1 - (250000MX)Description The Engineer I, Power and Structures Engineer will apply engineering principlesto power and substation structural design and perform other related engineeringfunctions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Design additions, expansions andimprovements to substation ·structures and associated facilities which includeinstallation of cable ducts, foundations, manholes, earth gradings/fillings, stormdrainages, driveways, sanitary facilities, power transformers, circuit breakers,switches, etc.· and perform other related engineering functions. Prepare/approvespecifications, requisitions, engineering designs, work orders and constructiondrawings; evaluate/recommend purchase of new equipment/materials; preparecost estimates; check manufacturer's drawings/engineering calculations foraccuracy, completeness and compliance with specifications. Conductcomputerized engineering studies and analysis of structural/power designs.Coordinate departmental work with other Division areas/departments and outsideagencies which include bid evaluation, problem solving, project constructionstatus, etc. Make field trips to obtain data, observe construction and resolveconstruction/design problems; prepare/present requests and justifications fordesign changes to present/proposed facilities. Provide advice and power/structural engineering design assistance to Division personnel and otherrequesting parties. Gather information from survey notes and instructions andprovide engineeringdesigns for various projects assigned. Study Engineering Progress, variousrules, regulations, codes and construction methods to keep abreast ofengineering changes. Prepare various records, reports and budgets. Performother duties as directed. Qualifications CERTIFICATIONSMust have a valid driver's license from state of residenceEDUCATION bachelor's degree in civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related fieldrequired.EXPERIENCE will vary according to departmental needs.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION  Works in office majority of time; subject to construction hazards while makingfield inspections. Must have an occupationally significant combination of:organizational ability to apply engineering principles/methods to power andsubstation structural design/construction; ability to formulate and implementprograms and policies; and oral/written communication skills.
