Shore Outpatient Surgicenter has an immediate need for a full time Perioperative RN  At Shore Outpatient Surgicenter, we focus on offering a high quality, service oriented environment for your surgical procedure. Our facility is accredited by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

Job Summary: The Perioperative RN provides quality patient care using the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and organizational policies. The Perioperative RN provides safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the perioperative services for all patient populations. The ideal candidate will work in all areas: PreOp, Operating Room and PACU.

PreOp -

Manage patients' admission processes to preoperative departmentAssess the status of patients' health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristbandEnsure that operative and informed consents are in orderDetermine the surgeon and procedure being carried outTake and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedureInitiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff

Operating Room - 

Provides nursing care and service during surgery cases.Will be responsible for positioning the patient, prepping the patient, and circulating the case.Will be focused on excellent customer service, have the ability to multi-task, the ability to show flexibility in assignments, maintain scrupulous infection control standards, maintain professional competencies and have the ability to work as part of an interdependent multidisciplinary team.

PACU -

Assess patients' condition after a surgery has been performedEnsure that all vitals are within normal rangeLog all findings in patients' filesAnswer patients' questions and ensure that they are kept comfortableMake sure that all relevant IVs are in checkDevelop individualized care plans based on each individual patient's conditionEnsure that the all nursing activities are carried out in accordance to individual patient care planMonitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctorInitiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medicationsDetermine when patients are ready to be moved to their roomsPerform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergenciesRecord sedation levels and body temperatureManage blood and fluid transfusions and draw specimensEnsure that the post-operative space is clean and sanitizedChange bandages and dress surgical wounds

Required Skills
Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state.Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursingMust have at least 2-5 years of experience in PreOp/PACU or Critical Care.Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferredMust have current BLS, ALS and PALSMust possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patientUnderstanding of aseptic techniques and their implementationAbility to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when neededMust be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians
