Analytical team members reside in many different locations globally and work on a diverse range of transactions applying different ratings criteria.The Role:As a Senior Analyst, you will have direct analytical responsibility for a portfolio of credits, and be responsible for conducting credit and financial analysis, reviewing, researching and managing data/transaction documents, running credit models, analyzing cash flows, and preparing analytical documentation. You will be expected to provide analytical reasoning in committees and discussion within the team, and to act proactively toward resolution of issues, to investigate root causes for problems, solving and be knowledgeable on the appropriate criteria. You will develop and maintain a deep understanding of the industry trends and issues. With the guidance of a Director, a qualified senior analyst typically maintains direct analytical responsibility for a portfolio of rated issuers within the transportation, energy, power, renewables and utilities asset classes.As important as the pure professional background is the personal and cultural fit. S&P Global’s culture can be described as highly integrated & collegiate, as a firm we work supporting each other to deliver the best solutions to clients.Responsibilities: The Senior Analyst undertakes rigorous analytical work and is proficient in conducting research and fundamental credit analysis, analyzing financial statements, working with financial models and forecasts, and writing analytical reports on rated different infrastructure asset classes. The successful candidate is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, is customer-oriented, and demonstrates excellent presentation skills.Your responsibilities also include:Ownership of a portfolio of creditsArranging review meetings for all entities assigned in line with our surveillance standardsUnderstanding financial statements and preparing detailed forecastsSummarizing findings and conclusions (including rating implications) at management meetings and discuss with managementIndependently preparing and presenting analysis and recommendations to credit committeesActively participating in committeesUndertaking research in support of S&P Global Ratings published commentariesCommunicating market players for rating rationale and criteria applicationActively managing relationships with issuers, intermediaries and investorsUnderstanding and implementing S&P’s policies and proceduresBasic Qualifications & Requirements:A bachelor’s degree holder of Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related subjectSolid experience (3+ years) within a large commercial bank, investment bank, investing institution/asset manager, rating agency, or an audit company working in the field of financial analysisUnderstanding of the power, utilities or infrastructure asset classesStrong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting conceptsProficiency with calculations and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying with strict and tight deadlinesAbility to multi-task and manage deadlines under time pressureExperience in managing, interpreting, and synthesizing data for analytical purposesStrong interpersonal and communication skillsTeam player with excellent time management skillsFluent in English. Advanced Spanish is a plus.Excel skills (including formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data, filters)Preferred Qualifications:MBA or master’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics and/or CFAStrong proficiency with Excel & VBA, financial models and financial dataStrong PowerPoint and database application skillsKnowledge of programming languages ( C++, MATLAB, Python, R or VBA)Prior experience with data analysis.
