  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Assumes responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in patient care area. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the LPN as defined by the Tennessee Board of Nursing.

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS
    • Education and/or experience: Current licensure to practice from state of Tennessee. Competent in BLS and / or other specialized life support requirements designated by work area or completion upon hire. Successful completion of Pharmacology proficiency exam and complete Pharmacology course for LPN under the direction of Blount Memorial Hospital Pharmacy faculty. Must be competent in IV therapy validated by examination and clinical competency. Healthcare experience preferred.
    • Knowledge: Knowledge of scope of the license practical nurse. Knowledge of infection control procedures, safety precautions, techniques involved in administering routine medications and / or treatments to patients. Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health applicable to work in the hospital. Basic computer knowledge.
    • Skills: Excellent Customer service, Active listening, Basic computer skills
    • Abilities: Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to work collaboratively. Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing care plan. Ability to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment and follow-up. Able to record activities and document interventions. Ability to use computer and learn new software programs. Ability to communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools. Ability to work and remain focused and organized in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to work flexible hours and days to meet facility needs.
