Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory's (NNL) Naval Training & Simulation (NTS) organization is seeking a highly motivated System Administrator to join our Simulation IT team. The NTS Simulation computing environment is dynamic and multifaceted where we develop highly available, resilient, and secure IT solutions that blend traditional IT technologies (Virtualization, MS Server/Client, Active Directory, Cisco, Palo Alto, and Linux) with a wide variety of first-of-kind Simulation applications, platforms, and emerging technologies. This environment will allow you to work across multiple technologies and grow as a technical IT professional while delivering interesting products that directly support the Naval Training mission. The successful candidate will have a strong Microsoft-centric systems configuration, management, optimization, and system hardening background. Methodical troubleshooting and creative problem-solving are essential to success in Simulation IT. Additionally, you must enjoy designing, configuring, implementing, troubleshooting, optimizing, and securing first-of-kind systems and technologies as our computing environment presents a number of unique technical challenges. We have an excellent team of technical professionals and continue to grow as we deliver our next generation of Simulation trainers.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

Experience managing Microsoft-centric computing environments.

Client/server imaging, baselining, hardening, optimizing, and monitoring in an Enterprise environment.

Experience or interest in administering, securing, optimizing, and auditing Active Directory (AD) and its various component services.

Experience or interest in administering and troubleshooting virtualization technologies and environments (i.e. VMWare, Hyper-V).

System hardening experience utilizing standards such as Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) Administration or working knowledge of security applications and hardening tools (i.e. Antivirus, Endpoint Security, Log and Event Management)

Experience with Vulnerability Management (VM) and patching tools (i.e. Nessus VM scanning, IBM BigFix patching and software management)

Have worked in a multi-site environment or team across groups in different physical locations working on multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience with programming/scripting technologies (i.e. PowerShell, VBA, Python).

Pay Range

$83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually
