UPMC Somerset is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Patient Care Technician to support our Behavioral Health Unit. This casual position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting departmental operations. The ideal candidate will be flexible with scheduling and committed to maintaining the highest standards of care.Responsibilities:Provide routine patient care and assist with activities of daily living.Support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.Perform core nursing assistant duties including:Blood glucose monitoringWeightsVital signsIntake & Output (I&O)Specimen collectionFoley catheter carePerform at least four of the following advanced tasks:Phlebotomy12-lead EKGSimple dressing changesFoley catheter removalPoint-of-care testingBladder scanningStraight catheterizationIV catheter removalAssist with patient transport, meal tray distribution, and response to call lights.Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.Document patient care activities in the medical record accurately and timely.Support departmental initiatives and quality improvement projects.Maintain a safe and respectful environment, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.High school diploma or equivalent.If no previous hospital or pre-hospital training, must have one of the following: successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class successful completion of EIC training programsuccessful completion of first year of clinical work in a nursing program.Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireAct 34UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
