Position Summary The primary location of this position is on-site in Cullowhee, NC.The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at Western Carolina University (WCU) is growing The University has received substantial support from the North Carolina legislature to expand engineering to meet the rapidly growing needs of the region and state. Our construction management, engineering, and engineering technology programs feature project-based learning embedded throughout the curricula, preparing our students for professional practice and advanced study. An Academic Advisor plays a vital role in supporting the College of Engineering & Technology (CET) by guiding students towards graduation success. CET advisors serve as the primary points of contact for first-year students during enrollment, offer ongoing academic advising to all CET students, and collaborate with other staff and faculty within and outside of the college.Job Responsibilities: Works as initial enrollment advisor for all CET students (first year, transfer, and re-entering students. Serves as primary advisor for students with 0-45 completed hours within the College of Engineering and technology. Continues as support advisor through graduation for all students. Provides developmental academic advising to undeclared students. Maintains appropriate advising records and documentation. Represents the College of Engineering and Technology at recruitment events. Provides transfer advising information and support for CET transfer students with transcript evaluations. Assists with questions regarding specific transferability of courses and programs. Participates in NC Community College outreach events promoting our WCU CET programs. Assists with the development, revision, and updating of CET advising processes, forms, and publications regarding student needs. Works in collaboration with all staff within the CET College and WCU Advising Center. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the needs of students and the College of Engineering and Technology. Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employment sponsorship or any immigration-related assistance. Masters Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as an academic advisor in an undergraduate setting. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office and Banner. Position Type Permanent Full-Time Number of Hours Per Week Number of Months Per Year 12
