Physician-in-Chief at Phoenix Children’s
Phoenix Childrenâ€s has initiated a national search for a dynamic innovative leader to serve as the next Physician-in-Chief. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a physician leader to join a growing healthcare system and help Phoenix Childrenâ€s continue to grow clinical care, research and education across the region. Phoenix Childrenâ€s Forty years ago, Phoenix Childrenâ€s opened within Good Samaritan Hospital as a “hospital within a hospital,†and 20 years ago, we embarked on building Arizonaâ€s first and only freestanding pediatric hospital. Guided by our mission to advance hope, healing and the best healthcare for children and their families, we are focused on meeting the healthcare needs of Arizonaâ€s growing pediatric population. For the past two decades, weâ€ve created nationally recognized programs and centers of excellence, earned a host of clinical accreditations and accolades, recruited top physicians and executives from across the country and around the world, expanded our residency and fellowship programs to train the next generation of doctors, and built a large and integrated medical group to ensure coordinated and consistent care delivery. Phoenix Childrenâ€s Medical Group Phoenix Childrenâ€s Medical Group (PCMG) has grown to include more than 750 employed and contract physicians, as well as advanced practice providers. PCMG offers care in more than 75 pediatric specialties across 34 clinical divisions at more than 40 sites of service in the state of Arizona. It is home to Phoenix Childrenâ€s eight centers of excellence, including: Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Childrenâ€s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders Center for Cleft and Craniofacial Care Center for Fetal and Neonatal Care Center for Heart Care Herbert J. Louis Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center for Spine Care Center for Trauma Care As Phoenix Childrenâ€s prepares to open two additional hospitals in the next year, PCMG is taking steps to ensure consistent, quality care at all points of inpatient and outpatient care throughout our system. One example has been bringing several divisions in-house to PCMG, including infectious diseases and anesthesia. Building an integrated and aligned medical group for all areas of operation at Phoenix Childrenâ€s is part of our health systemâ€s overall strategic plan amid our continued growth. Ensuring each patient family receives consistently high-quality, safe care – preferably, closer to home – is paramount to us. Recruiting and retaining world-class division chiefs to lead our specialty areas is a key factor in making this possible. We are committed to making Phoenix Childrenâ€s a best place to work for all clinicians, including those involved with patient care, clinical instruction and research. No matter the challenge, from tracking patient data to treating rare disorders, our team adapts our practices to provide new and better solutions. With our skilled network and wide reach, weâ€re equipped to develop the breakthrough tools, technologies and treatments needed to meet every familyâ€s health needs. Together, weâ€re expanding whatâ€s possible for pediatric care, education and innovation. Position Overview Reporting to the Chief Physician Executive, the next Physician-in-Chief will lead four clinical centers (17 Clinical Divisions) with a focus on delivering world class clinical care across the Southwest. This role will partner with Daniel Ostlie, MD, Surgeon-in-Chief, and Stewart Goldman, MD, Chair, Department of Child Health (University of Arizona) and Senior Vice President of Research, to drive the strategic vision and clinical care of Phoenix Childrenâ€s Medical Group. Reporting to this position are the Division Chiefs and Medical Directors of Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Allergy, Pulmonology, Palliative Medicine, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, General Pediatrics, Child Protection, Psychiatry, Psychology, Emergency Medicine, Pathology, and Radiology. Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD degree and be board-certified in a pediatrics subspecialty and a robust history of accomplishments in mentorship, leadership and scholarship.
