PRIMARY FUNCTION:Primarily responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), process and machine controls, advanced electrical systems and advanced mechanical and electromechanical equipment. The incumbent will use advanced computer blueprint/schematic interpretation skills to verify that all equipment is operating within required specifications and tolerances. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: Independently create/modify ladder logic, install/troubleshoot/program PLC hardware (Allen-Bradley) and perform process control networking tasks using blueprints and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specificationsCalibrate/install/and repair flow and density, temperature, pressure, level, speed and moisture/humidity transmitters process and machine controlsTroubleshoot and maintain AC and DC electrical system controlsTroubleshoot and repair relays and performs alignments on mechanical equipment as neededSearch for and present ideas for permanent fix for reoccurring electrical problemsIdentify unsafe conditions and correct; request assistance if unable to correct on ownAssist with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as neededTrain lower level employees as neededWork in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulationsAll other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or equivalentNOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1, 2 and 3 certifiedPass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 4 requiredEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial machinery preventative maintenance and repair, mechanical and electrical knowledge a mustAbility to read and understand blueprints, drawings and schematics requiredIntermediate math and computer skillsAbility to operate/use hand and power tools required; experience with welding, pipefitting and/or fabrication requiredAbility to comprehend and communicate in English requiredAbility to work unsupervised and self-motivateAbility to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hoursSound work ethic, honesty and moral characterSAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Follow departmental and company safety policies and programsMust wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where requiredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Stand up to 8 hoursLift up to 60 lbsFrequent/ constant walking around facility up to 150,000 sfExposure to wet and cold and wet and hot environmentsFrequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling.Frequently climbs stairs and laddersWork around raw, live animal odorsWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
