Job Description

• The Lab Tech position is a self-driven/self-motivated candidate capable of working proficiently, both independently and as part of a team, without direct supervision.  
• The successful individual must have a passion for safety and be able to foster effective working relationships built upon trust and respect within all levels of the organization.  
• The Quality Technician must be cross trained on all Quality Laboratory functions and must maintain a thorough knowledge of laboratory equipment to include operation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.  
• The Quality Technician must interpret, understand, support, and have working knowledge of Plant/Corporate protocols and programs, as well as facility systems, including informational/operational/management systems.  
• The Quality Technician will assist/train/coach employees within all levels of the organization in regard to quality and food safety related topics.

 
Essential Functions:

• Work safely, as well as report and assist in mitigating all safety concerns
• Comprehend and support plant/corporate protocols and programs, as well as facility systems, including informational/operational/management systems such as Sample6, IQS/Sigma, and Ignition.
• Properly manage product inventory utilizing programs such as SAP and SharePoint
• Monitor, operate, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory instruments and equipment without assistance
• Participate in laboratory Specialist Program
• Attend and practice all required training
• Follow QMS, Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area, always maintaining audit ready status
• Comply with all regulations, policies, and procedures
• All other duties/tasks as assigned

 
Education and Experience:

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-Technology, Food Science, or comparable program; two or more years related Quality Assurance experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.  Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.  
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of word processing and spread sheet programs.
• Knowledgeable or ability to learn laboratory equipment commonly used in the dairy industry (examples, but not limited to pH meters, FT120, CEM, antibiotic testing, allergen testing, package integrity, viscometers, etc.)
• Understanding of calibration programs of dairy testing equipment.

 
Other qualifications:

• Experience in QA department of food manufacturing company preferred.
• Experience in the area of compliance in food manufacturing company to include working directly with kosher and organic highly preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP, Optiva (or similar specification system), and SharePoint.

 
 
Job Location:           Bridgeton, New Jersey 08302
Duration:                 6 Months 
Pay rate:                 $21-23 /hour
 
Days and Hours of Work:
Week 1: M TU FR SAT (48hours: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am)
Week 2: SUN WTH (36 hours: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am)
