Recreation Coordinator, Magnolia House Women’s Shelter

Reports To: Assistant Program Manager Location: 1424 Herkimer Street, Brooklyn, NY 11233 What the Recreation Coordinator Does: Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality. Organize and lead therapeutic/recreational/ADL activities to enhance the social development of individual group members. Teach physical education, arts, music, or drama. Plan and organize activities to maximize program contract’s goals and performance targets. Design and produce aesthetic visuals for public spaces of the shelter which reflect cultural, seasonal and programmatic themes. Communicate effectively with clients, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors, and funders. Plan, coordinate and facilitate social/peer support events, including group facilitation for clients. Minimum Education/Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree (e. g., B.A., B.S.W.) and two years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience. Licensed Master’s degree in Art Therapy preferred. (A license is required of these Master’s Degrees: Social Work (LMSW or LCSW), Mental Health Counseling, Counseling/Guidance, Art Therapy). Compensation: $51,500-$54,590 annually When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
