As a leader in acute care and behavioral health, UHS provides high-quality care to over 3 million patients annually, across our national network of facilities.The UHS Legal Department is hiring a Government Affairs Specialist to supports UHS operations related to government relations and public affairs. Assists in developing and implementing government affairs strategies that align with UHS and its subsidiaries’ mission and goals. Coordinate internal stakeholder engagement with elected officials and external partners, including hospital associations.Key Responsibilities include:Partner with the Senior Director of Public Affairs on legislative and government relations initiatives and strategiesEngage with lobbyists and UHS stakeholders on federal, state, and local lobbying activities to advance the strategic priorities of the company and its subsidiariesWork with internal stakeholders such as Public Relations, Corporate Reimbursement, Grants and Legal to identify and support opportunities by leveraging our government affairs relationships (, lobbyists, trade organizations)Provide support and education to internal stakeholders on federal and state initiatives so that appropriate engagement occurs, including direct outreach to legislators’ offices and visits to facilitiesCoordinate government relations strategies with internal and external partners, including industry associations, coalitions, and community groups, to build alliances and supportMaintain awareness of regulatory frameworks and lobbying disclosure laws to ensure compliance and avoid penaltiesParticipate in meetings for industry associations and outside organizations related to government relations and health care concerns/policies, including but not limited to state Hospital AssociationsWorking with trade organizations, lobbyists and internal stakeholders, monitors policies and regulations relevant to the company’s interestsEnsure other departments, including but not limited to Legal, Business Development, Public Relations and Clinical Services are aware of the political, regulatory, and legislative environment as it relates to their operations Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 5 - 8 years' government affairs experience.Knowledge of healthcare management practices and clinical operationsProficient understanding of state and federal regulatory environments related to healthcare operationsStrong verbal and written communication and presentation skillsAbility to manage multiple competing prioritiesThis opportunity provides a rewarding career, challenging and rewarding work environment as well as growth and development opportunities within UHS and its subsidiaries, including competitive compensation, excellent Medical, Dental, Vision and Prescription Drug Plan, and 401k with company match.About Universal Health ServicesOne of the nation’s largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services, Universal Health Services, Inc.
