The company’s products are sold in approximately 150 countries and territories under brand names including: Estée Lauder, Aramis, Clinique, Lab Series, Origins, M·A·C, La Mer, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Aveda, Jo Malone London, Bumble and bumble, Darphin Paris, TOM FORD, Smashbox, AERIN Beauty, Le Labo, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, GLAMGLOW, KILIAN PARIS, Too Faced, Dr.Jart+, the DECIEM family of brands, including The Ordinary and NIOD, and BALMAIN Beauty.DescriptionKey Responsibilities:Work closely with senior trademark counsel to provide legal advice on all aspects of trademark and copyright lawReview and analyze trademark search reportsPrepare memoranda to clients regarding availability of proposed marksReview trademark watch noticesWork with senior members of Legal Trademark team on negotiation and drafting of license, co-existence and settlement agreementsOwn U.S. prosecution of trademark applications across all ELC brands, including substantive responses to Office Actions or Prepare substantive responses to Office Actions across all ELC brandsManage domain name disputesSupport the company’s anti-counterfeiting efforts including online enforcement, managing civil and administrative cases and providing support and direction to partners who work directly with customs, police and other law enforcement and government agenciesAdvise clients on proper usage of trademarks, including potential risks and issuesManage outside counsel in connection with conflict mattersAdvise and consult with clients at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, to identify critical legal issues, assess potential legal options, and provide individuals and teams with an analysis and range of possible legal solutions, all in the areas of trademark and copyright lawExercise independent judgment related to company legal mattersQualifications Qualifications/Requirements:Position based in New York City5-7 years of experience; in-house experience preferredConsumer products industry experience preferredMember of the New York State barGeneral knowledge of US and international trademark law, policies, and processesGlobal experienceAbility to form strong, collaborative relationships with business leaders and serve as a counterpart to the Marketing & Creative Operation teamsAbility to execute in a fast-paced, complex matrixed environmentPay Range:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,550.00 to $208,200.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program as well as participation in the share incentive plan.
