Construction Safety Training Coordinator — Dairy
3 days ago
What your day looks like You start the morning aligning with division leaders across our Dairy and Grain projects—project managers, engineers, technical service leads, and crew foremen—to pinpoint upcoming training needs tied to active construction sites and field service work. By midday, you’re delivering a forklift or crane certification class, or jumping into on-the-spot coaching at a jobsite. In the afternoon, you might conduct a field safety check, spot a trend, and schedule an updated training session to close the gap. You’ll wrap by updating certification records, collaborating with HR on incident documentation, and preparing recommendations that strengthen our safety-first culture. Your impact Own the development, expansion, updating, and implementation of safety training programs for all construction and field service activities in Dairy and Grain divisions. Partner with division management, project managers, engineers, technical service leads, crew foremen, and other safety personnel to determine training needs. Research industry-specific training options to meet regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA/ANSI) and negotiate with vendors when needed. Deliver training in multiple formats—classroom, on-the-spot/jobsite—and administer programs such as forklift and crane certifications; bring in outside professionals when appropriate. Use the right resources to tailor training relevance, audience, and duration. Conduct periodic field safety checks and assign or deliver follow-up training to address findings. Establish criteria and systems for documenting and tracking training records in line with best practices and regulations; partner with HR to maintain accurate databases. Ensure robust accident reporting for division employees: review incident sites, complete reports, obtain witness statements, and present findings to HR. Coordinate with HR to monitor injured employees’ health status, support return-to-work, and confirm care aligns with any work restrictions. Champion a safety-minded culture—reinforce policies and expectations; advise and support managers, foremen, and leads. Represent Dairy and Grain divisions on safety-related matters; assist other company divisions as a safety resource when needed. Handle special projects and additional duties as assigned; maintain a professional appearance at all times. What you bring High school diploma or G.E.D., plus 2 years of higher education or equivalent work experience. Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI requirements. At least 2 years of practical safety experience, preferably on construction or heavy equipment installation jobsites. Clear written and verbal communication with strong presentation skills; familiarity with adult learning principles is helpful. Above-average PC proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
