Cloud Enterprise Architect

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cloud Enterprise Architect.

In this role, the successful candidate will report to the Chief Technology Officer. The Enterprise Cloud Architect is responsible for Cloud technology strategy, drive implementation of emerging technologies and operationalizing best practices within the respective technology domain; enabling NYU Langone Health to become a world class integrated academic medical center and a nationally acknowledged leader in IT. This position will have dotted reporting to VP, Infrastructure. 

The Architect will have responsibility for the following areas:

·Establishes architecture strategy and engages with domain leaders to align architecture strategy with the organization's priorities.

·Researches and identifies required architecture components and/or frameworks that may span multiple products or areas of technology.

·Develop architectural principles and design cloud solution implementation detailed document.

·Provides technical expertise on multiple areas of underlying technologies, platforms, and subject matter relating to product or infrastructure architecture.

·Gathers and analyzes technical and industry-related trends and evaluates technological advances and various third-party products and tools.

·Ensures current technical assets are leveraged and sets the architectural direction of future product offerings.

·Designs target state Cloud Architecture, partnering with other areas, such as Cloud Network Architects, Cloud Data Architects, Cloud Security Architects, and Cloud Engineering and Development teams.

·Builds Reusable Patterns for application development in the public cloud to deploy and modernize applications, influence domain specific application teams on roadmaps and designs

·Ensures all Infrastructure leaders buy-in to the design & solution & develop RACI.

·Will require to participate and review technology solution & Implementation assessments governance forum (JAEDR)

·Provide internal consulting to ensure all areas are practicing sound architecture hygiene.

·Translates complex ideas, technology, and programs into language senior management can relate to and performs as a key influencer on technical decisions that affect the business on a long-term basis.

Job Responsibilities:

·Acts as the subject matter expert for Azure cloud services.

·Responsible for cloud services short-term and long-term technical strategy & planning development for private, public and hybrid cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS and and other XaaS offerings.

·Create and maintain architectural artifacts and roadmaps to lead the delivery of successful cloud implementations.

·Analyze proposed changes to identify architecture strategies for meeting business objectives and impacts, including costs and effort required to implement.

·Work with Cloud Service Brokers to identify and solution the strategic approach to using cloud services.

·Advise stakeholders on leading cloud practices and architectural approaches.

·Provide cloud architecture governance and oversight on new and evolving patterns.

·Liaise across the technology team to influence, advise on, and harvest cloud practices.

·Develop guidelines and guardrails to enable teams to be more self-sufficient.

·Design and develop with consideration for non-functional requirements (scalability, reliability, availability, observability, fault tolerance, security, and maintainability).

·Form and maintain a trusted relationship with senior leaders in technical and non-technical spaces, driving alignment between product and technical roadmaps.

·Play an active role in the architecture and be a key voice in technical initiatives and projects requiring integration of cross-functional systems.

·Develop Cloud Platform strategy to baseline desired state configuration (DSC).

·Experience with Microsoft 365 workloads such as M365, SharePoint, Power BI, Entra ID, cloud based data platforms like Databricks, Fabric etc running on Azure.

·Familiarity in best practices in modernizing data center environments, leveraging cloud technologies, virtualization, and maximizing the cloud storage and processing capabilities.

·Mentors solution architects and product delivery teams in the public cloud space to drive alignment with the architectural vision.

·Assist and advise project teams on project design options.

·Other duties as assigned.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:

·Demonstrates broad knowledge across multiple technologies

·In-depth experience with Microsoft, Unix & Linux O/S

·Experience with Cloud native (AWS, Azure, GCP), on-prem and hybrid IAM environments.

·Experience in designing and implementation of PAAS, IAAS & SAAS

·In-Depth experience with Azure Cloud Multi-Tenant implementation design by using key cloud resources.

·Strong Cloud Security design understanding and a key partner to Security team.

·Experience in leading enterprise through transformation including: architecting, building and implementing enterprise cloud platform services in a large multi-dimensional enterprise as well as change management and latching into an agile framework.

·Hands-On experience in implementing best practices for cloud-based infrastructure, applications, and services in a multi cloud and Hybrid environment.

·To be able to leverage knowledge and experience, to design and plan for cloud migration efforts from on-Prem/legacy systems to cloud native technologies

·Experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and automated deployments multiple environments

·Strong knowledge integrating AAD with Azure and automating IAM

·Deep understanding of different access methods Role based and Attribute based.

·Good understanding of F5-Application Security manager (ASM) policies and conceptual understating of how its configured to process traffic and forward to the Reverse Proxy for application delivery

·Strong knowledge of industry-leading IAM tools and integration patterns using SAML, OAuth.

·Experience with Privileged Access Management and credential management tools like CyberArk

·Deep knowledge of active directory services and disaster recovery of systems and under-pinning technologies and dependent systems.

·Authentication and remote access technologies.

·Industry experience with multiple vendors as well as having connectivity with various forums and experts.

·Knowledge of developing, setting and driving standards while operationalizing various technologies.

·Ability to work across disciplines and in a matrix environment to deliver results through influence.

·Demonstrates tech leadership for the respective technologies.

·Demonstrates collaborative leadership and be the advocate for MCIT.

Minimum Qualifications:

·To qualify you must have a degree in information systems, computer science or related field

·15+ years in technology management in related specialties with intimate knowledge of distributed systems technologies such as server, storage, desktop, enterprise monitoring tools architecture.

·8+ years of Azure cloud architecture, Engineering and design experience.

·Health care experience a plus; understanding of the requirements of an integrated academic medical center

·Industry Certifications a plus.

·Experience managing multiple projects and initiatives

·Industry vendor knowledge and established relationships

·Effective speaker, collaborative worker and good writing skills

·Able to translate complex technical information and implications in business-oriented language

·Experience with architecture review board governance structure
