Regional Safety Manager

Job Summary:Responsible for implementing, administering, and monitoring IES safety policies, procedures and programs for the business unit, departments, and projects within their assigned geographical region and/or assigned client. Ensures compliance with IES and Site/Client safety policies and procedures, as well as Federal and State Standards. Develops and manages Safety/Health initiatives aimed at preventing and eliminating occupational incidents, injuries and illnesses. Perform and instruct in proper techniques to proactively analyze, evaluate, and address workplace hazards and incidents.Job Duties and Responsibilities:1. Fully support all IES and Site/Client safety policies, procedures, and programs and Federal and State Standards.2. Ensure implementation and compliance with IES Safety Policies, Procedures and Programs within the Communications Division and Site/Client Site Specific Policies, Procedures and Programs.3. Support and provide guidance for operations in development of an action plan for any branch, office or project within their region not meeting safety goals and expectations.4. Perform safety presentations and develop safety presentations and related training as required.5. Schedule and coordinate safety audits/inspections to determine compliance with all IES and Site/Client safety policies, procedures, and programs and federal, state safety standards.6. Conduct or direct activities aimed at identifying potential hazards and developing safety action plans to correct any non-compliance issues and work with operations and management for implementation.7. Develop processes and plans to reduce or eliminate hazards and safety incidents.8. Deliver and coordinate safety training for management in accident prevention techniques, compliance with IES safety policies, procedures and programs and federal and state standards.9. As needed, prepare written reports and summaries to provide concise, meaningful information regarding safety audits, investigations and issues.10. Conduct and coordinate root cause investigations on recordable incidents, first aid incidents, near misses and vehicle incidents.11. Utilize the root cause analysis to help operations identify and implement corrective actions to help prevent future recurrence of similar incidents.12. Establish committees, conference calls/video, etc. to establish communication within their region.13. Notify the Director of Safety and DSM of any OSHA inspection within their region and provide guidance to their local resources and/or attend if physically feasible.14. Prepare and maintain safety related records and reports; including but not limited to OSHA 300 logs and incident data for their region and/or assigned client.15. Teach, counsel and mentor all stakeholders to uphold the IES Safety Culture.16. Shall participate in the hiring and managing site safety coordinators and managers.17. Participate in claims reviews for claims within their region and Division as needed18. Travel as required for business needs.19. Other responsibilities as assigned. MinUSD $130,000.00/Yr. QualificationsPhysical and Mental Requirements:· Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).· Must promote Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.· Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with Client, vendor, contractor, and IES representative(s).· Must possess proven problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).· Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.· Must possess manual dexterity, flexibility and visual acuity to perform inspection functions requiring walking, climbing, squatting, lifting, bending, twisting, etc.· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and distinguish all applicable codes, colors and symbols correctly.· Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.· Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner.· Must possess the ability to learn the Company and Client computer systems.Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:· Associate degree or higher.· Must possess a minimum of seven (10) years’ experience in construction safety, preferably in the telecommunications or electrical industry; or a combination of related work experience (to be reviewed).· Prior EMT certification/experience preferred· Knowledge of the OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction.· Knowledge and experience with the Confined Space Entry Standards 1926.1200 Subpart AA.· Authorized OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer or equivalent training certification preferred.· CHST (Construction Health/Safety Technician) Certification or equivalent required.· Excellent written and verbal communication skills· Proficient computer knowledge and experience utilizing MS Office (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint & Outlook)· Must be detail-oriented with high level organizational skills· Ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders including field personnel, IES management and Client interfaces· Ability to respond as needed in support of all safety emergency situations with or without advance notice.· Must meet Company minimum driving standards.· Must have proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
