The Pharmacy Technician-One (1) Home Care assists the Home Care Clinical Pharmacist in packaging, manipulative, repetitive, and other non-discretionary tasks. Performs prescription order entry and refills. Obtains routine clinical information (lab results, history and physical, medication profile, enteral assessment, etc.). Maintains a calendar for regularly scheduled refills of customer prescriptions. Works closely with other MVP personnel i.e. Authorization specialist and coordinator-intake for dispensing activities and delivery coordination. Initiates delivery tickets, assembles products and stages (packaging) of supplies and drugs for delivery. Tracks authorizations prior to dispensing product to ensure expedient payment. Runs eligibility checks for authorization of product prior to dispensing. Responsible for the aseptic compounding of IV solutions: labeling and preparing Intravenous (IV) solution and related supplies for delivery. Must maintain an aseptic work environment. Organizes and facilitates workload well. Maintains all required documentation and completes required competencies. Performs other duties as needed. High School Diploma required. Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited technician training program or hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Minimum one year of experience in a similar or hospital setting preferred. California pharmacy technician license required. Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
