About This Job The main purpose of this job is to lead projects using Agile methodologies, ensuring successful delivery through servant leadership, team building, and strategic execution. The IT Project Manager II facilitates Agile ceremonies, manages project schedules, budgets, and backlogs, and serves as a mentor for Agile principles and project management best practices. This role requires strong collaboration, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering results that align with customer needs and organizational goals.Essential FunctionsManage projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and customer expectationsFacilitate Agile ceremonies (Scrum, Kanban) including visioning, story mapping, backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, maintaining focus on purpose and objectivesDevelop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and release roadmaps, ensuring transparency and alignment across all stakeholdersMonitor and analyze Agile metrics (velocity, burndown, cycle time) to identify trends, anticipate risks, and implement corrective actions for continuous improvementManage operational budgets for assigned projects, ensuring financial accountability and adherence to approved fundingPrepare and deliver clear, concise reporting for varying audiences, including stakeholders, and cross-functional teamsIdentify, assess, and mitigate project risks while maintaining quality standards and compliance with organizational policiesBuild and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering trust and collaboration to achieve shared objectivesPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities RequiredIntermediate understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and ability to apply principles across diverse projectsIntermediate knowledge of project management frameworks, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk managementFamiliarity with project management tools such as TFS/Azure DevOps and PlanviewAbility to anticipate and balance the interests of multiple stakeholders while maintaining customer focusSkilled in managing complexity and ambiguity with a problem-solving mindset and structured approachDemonstrated ability to consistently drive for results and deliver projects on time and within scopeAbility to hold self and others accountable for meeting commitments and achieving goalsComfortable working in dynamic environments with evolving products and projectsDemonstrates continuous learning through experimentation and feedback, applying lessons learned to improve processesMotivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesInquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core ValuesIntermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience required4+ years of formal project management experience, preferably in Agile environments requiredAgile Scrum Master Certification requiredProject Management Certification (PMP) certification and/or facilitation certification preferredProgram and/or portfolio management experience preferred *Hybrid Schedule: In office 2 to 3 days per week **Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.***For individuals applying, assigned and/or hired to work in areas with pay transparency requirements, Commerce is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for some roles. This compensation range is for the IT Project Manager II & III job and contemplates a wide range of factors that are considered in determining most appropriate job level and making compensation decisions, including but not limited to location, skill sets, education, relevant experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $93,000 to $123,500 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
