Duties Description Reporting to a Registered Nurse 2 (Medical Care), the Licensed Practice Nurse will work within the Claims department to evaluate and consult on Workers’ Compensation claims by reviewing nonformulary medication requests submitted through the Workers’ Compensation Board portal for authorization. This position is administrative in nature, within an insurance company, and is not a direct care position.Responsibilites include but are not limited to:• Obtain and review medical records and treatment plans, as necessary.• Observe issues related to medication or changes in health status and report, as necessary.• Maintain all necessary records of claimants’ conditions and/or administered treatments.• Attend to claimants’ medical care, by reviewing all applicable documentation.• May talk to claimants, listen to their concerns and responses, and encourage them to cooperate and participate in treatment and rehabilitation activities.• May educate and counsel claimants and/or families regarding their health, medications, treatment goals and procedures, and behavioral interactions as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications • A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR• A limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR• An application on file for a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.
