Job Description The Geographic Information System (“GIS”) Technician provides support in the development and maintenance of GIS systems and database through field data collection and digitizing data. The GIS Technician assists with the implementation and enhancement of the small, unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) program. The position collects field data and leverages geospatial analysis in support of Park District needs. Essential Functions: Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required. Collects data in the field to support GIS department initiatives. Assists in development of GIS utility database through identification of historical documents and scanning of drawings and digitization of data. Assists in deployment and maintenance of Park district sUAS. Verification of digitized data through field data collection using GPS unit. Support Park initiatives, and other field data collection of park district assets as needed. Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel. Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
