We're recognized around the world for our inclusive, meaningful culture and innovative technologies by organizations like Fast Company, Forbes, Newsweek and more.About the jobThe Software Globalization team is looking for a Localization Engineer.You will help develop, maintain and support the Localization Pipeline and technology at SAS, guide the team forward with adopting GenAI technology to assist the Localization process, and ensure the Globalization Project Management, Translation and QA teams have all the tools and solutions in place to effectively perform their tasks. Globalization is a division of R&D that enables global revenue at SAS by focusing on the international customer experience. We accomplish this thanks to our team of multicultural employees, distributed throughout the globe. As a Senior Globalization Engineer, you will:Designs and develops high quality and scalable solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.Participates in the construction, development and maintenance of the localization pipeline and solutions.Works to develop and improve GenAI-powered tools, libraries and features for multilingual support.Handles implementation and proper support of various file types in our pipeline and processes.Discusses issues and solutions with key stakeholders to improve localization efficiency and quality and develops solutions or tools as necessary.Participates in project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts project lead or manager of issues meeting schedule.Maintains accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers.Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals. Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. These are our values and influence everything we do.Required qualifications8+ years of software development experience.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related quantitative fieldPossesses strong programming skills in Go, Python and TypescriptHas extensive experience with Jira, Confluence, Github (workflows and actions), Gitlab and Gerrit.Flexibility and ability to learn new technologiesEquivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.Additional competencies, knowledge and skillsTechnical Knowledge & Skills- Having achieved a satisfactory level of technical, functional, and/or professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise; leveraging expert knowledge to accomplish results.Communication- Conveying information and ideas clearly and concisely to individuals or groups in an engaging manner that helps them understand and retain the message; listening actively to others.
