Environmental Scientist/Engineer

Our Opportunity We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist or Engineer for our Practice in Austin, TX. In this role you will work as part of a team focusing on complex environmental issues at the forefront of emerging contaminants and chemicals of concern, providing high-level scientific support for projects centering on engineered systems and contamination in the environment. The ideal candidate for this position should be open to collaboration on multidisciplinary work and developing and expanding areas of expertise. You will be responsible for Supporting multidisciplinary project teams on complex, challenging problems related to contamination investigations, environmental and regulatory compliance, litigation support, environmental assessment, engineering analysis, and remediationReviewing, interpreting, and summarizing scientific literature, regulatory standards, guidance documents, and legal case materials Applying critical thinking to prepare and review complex technical reports and presentationsWorking cooperatively on projects with other members of the Environmental and Earth Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate You will have the following skills and qualifications Required:. in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental ChemistryMust be self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and effective with time managementExcellent communication, organization, and writing skillsWillingness to learn and develop new areas of expertisePreferred:Understanding of engineered environmental and water systemsUnderstanding of the fate and transport of chemicals in the environment Familiarity with drinking water and wastewater treatment Familiarity with the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, National Pollution Discharge Elimination System or Toxic Release Inventory or other related state and federal regulationsKnowledge of PFAS, other chemicals of concern, and/or microbiological contaminants Some consulting experience is a plus
