Intern - Photovoltaics & Materials Tech - R&D Undergraduate Year Round

What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking an undergraduate student intern to work on projects related to evaluating and improving photovoltaic (PV) system performance via experimental, statistical, and/or machine learning methods. The selected candidate will work on projects funded by the DOE Solar Energy Technologies Office to address key challenges to PV module reliability and field efficiency across different operating environments. These projects help ensure the widespread deployment of reliable, high-efficiency photovoltaic technologies and system designs that are essential to the nation’s transition to a cleaner energy future. Potential projects include: Modeling the performance of PV modules and systems Evaluating PV module components for degradation Correlating image and electrical data Identifying faults in time-series data. Willingness to learn and creative problem solving are a plus. Salary Range: Qualifications We Require: You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S. Qualifications We Desire: Experience with any of the following: Photovoltaic or energy systems Statistics or statistical modeling Machine learning Image analysis Python or other programming languages Spectroscopy or polymer science Posting Duration: This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the ‘posting date’.
