Job Description: The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) at the University of Florida is seeking applications for a clinical audiology faculty position at the assistant or associate rank. This full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure-track, -month position is expected to start in Fall 5. Primary job duties involve coordination of clinical education program for students in the Doctor of Audiology degree program and teaching. With regard to clinical coordination, responsibilities include assigning students’ clinical practicum placements and externships, supervising all AuD students in their clinical experiences and tracking student progress toward attainment of clinical certification requirements, developing and overseeing affiliation agreements with external clinical placement sites, exploring new clinical site locations and placements, and ensuring clinical experiences are standardized across locations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, clinical experience, mentoring, and service in a dynamic academic health center environment. In addition, the candidate will be expected to teach upper-division undergraduate and graduate level courses that support audiology and hearing sciences. The candidate will also engage in a range of service activities including student mentorship and participation on departmental and college committees. UF SLHS: The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is one of eight departments in the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and is well integrated within the UF Health Science Center, thereby offering faculty a wealth of opportunities for scholarly collaborations. The department offers three degrees: Doctor of Audiology (AuD), Master of Art’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders (the degree program for speech-language pathology), and Bachelor of Health Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. The College of PHHP also offers a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, which includes a concentration in Communication and Swallowing Sciences and Disorders. Faculty members have access to a college level instructional design team that provides them with expert support in course development and delivery. Required Qualifications: The position requires an AuD or PhD in audiology, hearing sciences, or closely related field. Applicants also are required to hold the American Speech Language Hearing Association’s (ASHA’s) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and be licensed in Florida for audiology or be eligible for a Florida license in audiology. Preferred: Ideal candidates will have an AuD and PhD in audiology, hearing sciences, or closely related field. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of full-time experience with clinical service provision in audiology and at least three years of experience providing clinical education/supervision to graduate audiology students (or comparable experience in activities associated with clinical administration). Other preferred qualifications include experience with directing clinical simulations, experience with telehealth practice, familiarity with medical audiology, and experience with college-level teaching. Demonstration of strong interpersonal and organizational skills and effective written and oral communication skills is essential. A successful candidate at the Clinical Associate Professor level should have a strong record of accomplishment in teaching and service.
