The Opportunity We are collaborating with multiple companies in Norton Shores seeking experienced Design Engineers. Key Responsibilities Develop and optimize product designs using CAD software. Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs). Conduct design analysis, simulations, and calculations to validate concepts. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-effective (DFM/DFA). Prototype and test new designs, analyzing performance and implementing improvements. Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for design requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during production and field use. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) and PDM systems. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication) and their impact on design. Demonstrated knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience with material selection and properties for industrial applications. Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., FEA) to validate designs. Bonus Qualifications Experience with advanced simulation software (e.g., FEA, CFD). Demonstrated understanding of specific manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, additive manufacturing). Hands-on prototyping and testing experience. Familiarity with PLM/ERP systems.
