Department Summary The Counseling Program at UNT Dallas prepares a multi-culturally competent counselor and a change agent who promotes wellness in children, adults, families, schools, and communities locally and worldwide. The Program offers two CACREP-accredited master’s programs: school counseling and mental health counseling. Mentored by dedicated faculty with extensive experience as licensed practitioners and in research, our students undergo an authentic experiential and evidence-based training. Graduates of the UNTD Counseling program are dedicated leaders and advocates for diversity in the communities they serve. Position Overview UNT Dallas is seeking qualified individuals to establish a robust pool of talented adjunct instructors for our growing counseling programs. Selected candidates will be responsible for teaching master's-level counseling courses across multiple formats including face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction using Canvas learning management system. The ideal candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching excellence and dedication to student success.Beginning Spring 2026 semester, teaching opportunities will be available in Group Counseling, Family Counseling, Substance Abuse Treatment, Professional School Counseling, Practicum in School Counseling, and Career Counseling. Candidates will be drawn from this talent pool as positions become available. As our programs continue to expand, additional teaching opportunities may arise across our counseling curriculum. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education or a closely related field from a CACREP-accredited university and maintain active status as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a minimum of two years of experience, or hold equivalent licensure in a counseling field. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge:• Academic experience working n a campus with culturally diverse students, staff and faculty• Experience in working with industry-standard tools and programming languages for analytics.Skills:• Strong instructional design and course development skills• Effective use of learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)• Ability to facilitate engaging online, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor diverse student populations• Proficient use of educational technology and digital learning toolsAbilities:• Ability to create inclusive and supportive learning environments• Ability to assess student learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff• Ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet academic demands• Ability to integrate real-world human services experience into classroom instruction Preferred Qualifications For School Counseling positions, candidates must hold Texas School Counselor Certification and demonstrate a minimum of three years of school counseling experience, including supervision responsibilities. Additionally, candidates should possess comprehensive knowledge of TEA requirements and maintain active memberships in state and national school counseling organizations.For Clinical Mental Health positions, candidates should have substantial experience in group counseling and family systems approaches, along with a proven record of teaching diverse populations. The ideal candidate will bring experience working in culturally diverse academic settings, demonstrate thorough knowledge of CACREP standards, and maintain active memberships in state and national professional organizations. Bilingual skills are highly valued for both positions. Required License/Registration/Certifications Job Duties Physical Requirements Communicating with others to exchange information.
