Whether youre early in your estimating career or a seasoned professional ready to own full-cycle bid delivery, youll play a key role in producing accurate, competitive proposals for concrete foundations, flatwork, and paving projects throughout the Des Moines Metro area. Key Responsibilities Perform quantity takeoffs (SF/CY) for commercial concrete scopes: foundations, flatwork, paving/parking, and floors.Build full estimates and competitive bids, factoring in labor, materials, equipment, and production rates.Read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and addenda.Develop and manage proposals for GC and owner clients; track deadlines and manage the bid calendar.Review subcontractor and vendor quotes, manage cost benchmarks, and update unit pricing data.Coordinate with the operations team for seamless project handoff post-award.Improve and maintain Excel templates, OST workflows, and estimation tools for speed and accuracy.Communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. What Were Looking For Entry-Level or Junior Estimator (03 years)Some exposure to construction or estimating (internship or field experience a plus).Strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, VLOOKUPs, structured estimating workbooks).Ability to read plans/specs and turn them into meaningful takeoffs.Willingness to learn On-Screen Takeoff (training provided).Detail-oriented and organized, with clear communication skills.Experienced Estimator (3+ years)Proven success estimating commercial concrete projects ($250K$2M+), especially foundations and large scale flatwork.Full-cycle ownership of estimates, proposals, and operations handoff.Advanced Excel proficiency and fluency in On-Screen Takeoff (OST).Familiarity with Des Moines Metro and Ankeny market is a bonus.Able to mentor junior estimators and refine internal systems.
