The (CLAS) is now accepting applications for the role of Senior HR Director. As a member of the senior leadership team for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and University HR, you will function as a strategic business partner providing direction and input and serving as leader, consultant, resource and authority on HR policies, practices and resources. This position works collaboratively with the Dean, University Chief Human Resources Officer, collegiate Leadership, and HR team to develop and advance HR goals and strategies to positively influence organizational performance and culture. The position is accountable to the Dean of the College and the University Chief Human Resources Officer. Specific Job Duties and Tasks Partner with leadership and provide consultation based upon the strategic mission of the organization Lead, develop, and initiate HR strategies that influence the organizational environment Regularly assess decisions and strategies to mitigate risks and recommend corrective actions as needed Lead a team of HR professionals and foster a work culture that values collaboration, respect, problem solving, learning, and effective communication. Collaborate with leaders on organizational/university strategic plans Monitor trends, forecast workforce needs, and develop organizational HR strategies Provide guidance on and implement University strategic HR initiatives. Foster an environment of transparent communication where all team members can contribute to productive discussions and all voices can be heard Provide consultative services and human resources expertise to staff, faculty and administrators and deans. Identify training needs in areas of HR policies, procedures and best practices; develop and conduct training sessions in these identified areas. Partner with organization leadership to assess workforce development needs and identify HR strategies that support achievement of organizational goals Promote a high performing, highly engaged, and respectful organizational culture Approve management recommendations regarding discipline and investigation outcomes. Plan, direct and manage HR operations of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, which is a large and complex organization Promote, execute and evaluate programs for CLAS/HR Ensure records are maintained in compliance with University policy and state/federal laws and regulations Develop best practices on HR programs for organization. Establish college-wide policies to meet compliance requirements Develop, revise, implement and ensure policies, regulations and compliances are met. Perform complex analysis and interpretation of policies and procedures Manage, investigate, and resolve complex employee relations, disciplinary, and grievance issues. Refer protected class concerns to appropriate office and work in partnership with those offices to ensure they have requested information. Represent the Dean in employee grievance hearings. Oversee efforts to monitor and ensure compliance with UI policies such as sexual harassment prevention education, FERPA, PTEA, etc. For a complete job description, please contact Jade Rogers at Education Requirement Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Strategic Leadership, Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications 7-10 years of progressive leadership administrative or managerial experience in human resources in a complex and/or high-profile organization with multiple departments/units Experience conducting workplace investigations and performance management consulting. Demonstrated ability to make sound systemic and thoughtful decisions using good judgement. Proven ability to effectively supervise a large and experienced HR team, including professional staff. Demonstrated leadership and knowledge of contemporary human resource principles, practices and processes and current federal and state laws, statues, regulations, policies and directives pertaining to human resources. Demonstrated experience working effectively and collaboratively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, including knowledge of effective strategies that foster and promote a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment. Desirable Qualifications Demonstrated expert/leader knowledge and ability to: Plan and develop an organization’s HR enterprise in order to increase individual and organizational effectiveness.Utilize outstanding verbal, written and electronic communication skills as demonstrated by: Tailoring messaging to various audiences; including complex and highly sensitive information.Managing conflicts and investigations.Delivery of presentations or staff training.Authoring/editing formal policy language. Implement effective strategies for promoting a welcoming and respectful work environment based on the principles of affirmative action and equal opportunity. Demonstrate experience in organizational workforce planning and change management to align the workforce and culture to achieve organizational goals and measurable outcomes. Demonstrated experience (typically 3-5 years) working in one of the following is highly preferred: Human Resource Management experience in a public sector or higher education environment, or Senior leadership role at a university with a high level of collaboration between University HR and local department/division. Demonstrated hands-on, collegial and collaborative leadership style that is effective throughout all levels of the organization. HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, etc.) or other professional HR certification.
