A payment of $2,500 will be issued at the end of the 2025–2026 school year, and the remaining $2,500 will be issued at the end of the 2026–2027 school year. Completion of each year—and eligibility for each bonus installment—is defined as receiving an effective rating on your annual evaluation for that school year. Summary New Haven High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Secondary Math Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for mathematics and help them build a strong foundation in critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs of all students. Responsibilities – Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines. – Teach a variety of mathematics courses, including Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus, to students in grades 9-12. – Assess and evaluate student progress through regular assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback to students and parents. – Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect. – Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with special educational needs. – Utilize technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning and engagement. – Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to develop cross-curricular projects and initiatives. – Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in mathematics education. – Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns. – Contribute to the school community through participation in extracurricular activities, committees, and events. Requirements – Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred. – Valid teaching certification in Secondary Mathematics and an additional endorsement is preferred. – Proven experience teaching mathematics at the secondary level, preferably in a high school setting. – Strong knowledge of mathematics content and pedagogy. – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. – Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. – Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning. – Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. – Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues. – Passion for teaching and a genuine interest in fostering student success in mathematics. COMPENSATION: Appropriate placement on the salary schedule as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association which can be found at www.newhaven.misd.net under the transparency.
