Chief Financial Officer – Commercial Insurance Group OverviewAn established and growth-focused insurance company is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team. This role is central to shaping the company’s financial strategy, strengthening operational performance, and supporting continued expansion in the commercial lines marketplace. The incoming CFO will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, providing forward-looking insights that balance innovation with disciplined financial management. The position requires a proven executive with deep knowledge of the Property & Casualty sector, insurance accounting, and capital optimization through reinsurance and strategic planning.Primary Areas of ResponsibilityExecutive Financial LeadershipLead all finance functions including accounting, reporting, treasury, and controls in accordance with GAAP and statutory standardsOversee the preparation and submission of quarterly and annual statements to regulatory authoritiesPartner with external auditors, reinsurers, and financial institutions to ensure transparency and complianceReinsurance & Capital ManagementDevelop, evaluate, and implement reinsurance structures that enhance profitability and safeguard balance-sheet strengthSupervise reinsurance accounting, ceded reporting, and recoverable trackingAdvise senior leadership on capital allocation and risk transfer strategyOperational Finance & CollectionsDirect billing, receivables, and premium accounting processes to ensure accuracy and timely collectionEstablish best-practice procedures to reduce delinquency and improve cash flowStrategic Planning & ForecastingDrive the annual budgeting process and long-term financial modeling aligned with corporate objectivesDeliver financial analysis, variance reviews, and performance dashboards that guide executive decision-makingSupport evaluation of mergers, partnerships, and market expansion initiativesRisk, Governance & ControlsOversee credit risk exposure and implement policies to maintain strong financial disciplineEnsure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory frameworksServe as a key voice in corporate governance and enterprise risk management discussionsIdeal BackgroundBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA designation preferred.20+ years of progressive finance experience within the Property & Casualty insurance sector, including 5+ years in an executive capacity.Expertise in statutory reporting, NAIC filings, and reinsurance program management.Demonstrated track record of leading large-scale financial operations and driving strategic initiatives.Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.Proven ability to partner across underwriting, claims, and operations to achieve corporate goals.
