Family and Community Engagement Administrator

Position Summary: The Family and Community Engagement Administrator leads district-level planning, coordination, and implementation of family engagement initiatives and community partnerships. This role coordinates programs, events and supports translation/interpretation to enhance engagement and ensure equitable access to information for all families. The Administrator works closely with school principals, district departments, staff, and community partners to improve the educational experience for students and families. Essential Duties: Great Teaching & Learning (Instructional Infrastructure): Deliver professional development for district staff on effective family and community engagement practices. Provide training for families and caregivers to support their children’s education. ? Stay current with best practices in family engagement, community partnerships, and language-access services. Facilitate professional development for bilingual staff on customer service and effective communication practices. Support school staff in building strong, culturally responsive relationships with families to enhance student academic achievement. Support interpretation during meetings of a sensitive nature to ensure accuracy and clarity of information. Great People (Talent Management): Collaborate with school and district leadership to identify and address the needs of students and families, with a focus on attendance, school climate, and the learning environment. ? Recruit, support, and engage families, community volunteers, and partners for school initiatives. ? Act as a liaison between the district, families, and parent groups to ensure effective, culturally and linguistically responsive communication. Support schools in developing family engagement activities that promote two-way communication and increased participation. Attend meetings, often after regular business hours, to provide interpretation or support engagement events as needed. Great Culture (Systems Leaders): Program Support and Coordination: Lead the coordination of district events, trainings, workshops, and family-facing programs. ? Coordinate logistics for events, workshops, and meetings supporting family and community involvement. Maintain records and databases related to engagement activities, participation, and translation/interpretation support. Support the district’s translation and interpretation request process to ensure families receive timely, accessible information. Coordinate or provide translation and interpretation for languages other than English and Spanish for district and school meetings, conferences, and events. Design and provide technical assistance to Family Advocates supporting engagement initiatives. Partnerships and Collaboration: Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with school staff, families, and community members to support engagement initiatives. Facilitate communication among schools, families, and community partners, ensuring language accessibility where needed. Provide written and oral translation of correspondence, forms, documents, reports, and other materials between English and a designated second language. Data Collection and Reporting: Collect and organize data on family and community engagement activities Evaluate the effectiveness of engagement initiatives. Prepare reports for the Director of Family and Community Engagement and other stakeholders. Use data to refine engagement strategies and improve systems for family and community engagement. Great Systems (Support & Accountability): Serve as a point of contact for families and community members, addressing inquiries and providing information about district programs and resources. Support the creation and maintenance of engagement-related event calendars, including translation and interpretation scheduling. Ensure compliance with district policies, language-access standards, and alignment with district-wide goals. Review translated materials for accuracy, grammar, syntax, and comprehensibility prior to distribution. Operate necessary technology and equipment to support simultaneous or consecutive interpretation. Additional Responsibilities: Maintain organized files and documentation for engagement and translation activities. Assist in budget tracking and resource allocation for family and community engagement activities. Support the Family and Community Engagement team in designing programs to improve student achievement. Regularly report program progress to district leadership and stakeholders. Support one or more of the following areas as needed: partnership MOUs, district volunteer coordination, after-school program communication support, and translation and interpretation services. Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation using district-approved equipment. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities): Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Social Work, Public Relations, Communications, Linguistics, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in family and community engagement, translation/interpretation, or related work in an urban school setting. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in technology, communication platforms, and tools used for interpretation. Strong linguistic skills in English and at least one additional language, with the ability to translate and interpret accurately. *Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted. Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual (Spanish) Master's Degree in Education, Public Administration, Social Work, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field. Physical/Mental Requirements: Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer. Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties. Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone. Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, walk, reach and climb stairs. Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds. Sitting for prolonged periods of time. May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines. Work Environment: Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
