About This Role: The Division of Communications and Marketing at Kansas State University is seeking a marketing writer to join our creative services team. Our creative services team provides graphic design, photography and marketing writing services across print and digital design projects for a wide array of campus clients including the Office of the President, academic colleges and departments, student life units and more, with a primary focus on new student recruitment design needs for the Office of Enrollment Management and the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. Reporting to the university’s creative director, the marketing writer will develop and produce content that reflects the university voice, enhances the university’s brand, and ensures alignment with institutional strategic priorities. This position will both develop original content from scratch as well as work with campus clients to refine existing content to align with each project’s target goals. The marketing writer will be expected to work collaboratively in this process with other members of the DCM team. To be successful in this role, candidates should have a strong background in writing for a variety of project types including booklets and brochures, postcards and mailers, advertising, and digital communications such as web pages and email. Candidates should also have a strong background with AP style, excellent time management skills and the ability to tailor content to a variety of different audiences. What You’ll Need to Succeed: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, English or related field.One to three years of relevant work experience in a communications unit, marketing or advertising agency, newspaper, or other communication related organization.Must possess a strong attention to detail and be able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities with the utmost professionalism.Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences.Knowledge of and practice using AP style.Know-how to develop online content that supports search engine optimization and user experiences.Ability to maintain brand integrity across all marketing initiatives and communications.
