Job Description Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs general maintenance work to ensure hotel physical plant quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained. The Maintenance Technician takes care of the building, equipment and grounds of the hotel. This position will perform maintenance and repairs, and preventative maintenance, to all areas of the hotel.

  • Routine Maintenance:
  • Performing regular inspections of building systems, equipment, and fixtures (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, furniture/fixtures). 
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment. Track Preventative Maintenance of all property equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment for guests and staff. 
  • Repairs and Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues. Coordinating with vendors and property leadership should the need arise. 
  • Troubleshooting and resolving problems with guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities. 
  • Responding to urgent repair requests promptly and efficiently. Ensure follow up and documentation completed on all work orders. 
  • Equipment Maintenance:
  • Maintaining and repairing hotel equipment, including kitchen appliances, laundry equipment, and other machinery as required. 
  • Ensuring that all equipment is functioning safely and efficiently. Daily checks of equipment to be performed and documented.
  • Installation and Upgrades:
  • Assisting with the installation of new equipment, fixtures, and furniture. 
  • Participating in upgrades and renovations as needed. 
  • Record Keeping:
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inventory. 
  • Documenting and reporting any safety issues or hazards identified to property leadership. 
  • Ensure property is in compliance with local, state and federal building codes, including OSHA regulations.
  • Collaboration:
  • Coordinating with other departments, such as housekeeping, front desk, Banquets and F&B, to ensure smooth operations across the hotel. 
  • Working with contractors and vendors as needed. 
  • Safety:
  • Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures. 
  • Ensuring that the hotel environment is safe for guests and staff. 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other building systems. 
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems effectively. 
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests, staff, property leadership and contractors. 
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting and moving heavy objects. 
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with all hotel departments. 
  • Experience: Previous experience in hotel maintenance or a related field is preferred. Currently hold, or have the ability to complete a Certified Pool Operator certification course. Ability to work mornings, nights and weekends required.
