The Club features a well-maintained course, a putting green, a fully stocked pro shop, and the newly renovated Lion’s Den restaurant — offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and community events year-round. Our facilities also host weddings, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations for up to 300 guests, making Kings Gate a vibrant hub of golf and hospitality. Join a team that values your hard work and takes pride in maintaining one of the area’s most enjoyable and respected golf courses.Job title: Spray Technician Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent Classification: Hourly, Full Time, NonexemptWorking Hours: According to shift assignmentJob purposeThe Spray Technician is responsible for the safe and effective application of pesticides, fertilizers, and other turf maintenance products on the golf course and related areas. This position plays a key role in maintaining high-quality playing conditions by ensuring proper calibration, mixing, and application of materials according to established schedules and environmental standards.Duties and responsibilitiesPrepare, mix, and apply fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides according to the superintendent’sOperate and maintain spray equipment, spreaders, and related machinery (e.g., sprayers, booms, tanks, pumps).and approved chemical plans.Calibrate sprayers and spreaders to ensure accurate application ratesMaintain detailed spray records, including product use, areas treated, weather conditions, and application rates.Inspect turf areas regularly to identify pests, disease activity, and nutritional deficienciesAssist in maintaining inventory of chemicals and fertilizers; ensure proper storage and labeling per regulatory standards.Clean and maintain equipment after use to ensure safe and reliable operation.Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use and spill response.Assist with general golf course maintenance as needed (mowing, irrigation, bunker work, etc.).Communicate effectively with management regarding course conditions and needs.Demonstrate courtesy to Members and Guests at all times.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical or turf-related education preferred.1-2 years of experience in turfgrass management, golf course maintenance, or related field preferred.Current State Pesticide Applicator’s License (or ability to obtain one)Strong understanding of turfgrass disease, weeds, and insect pests.Knowledge of chemical safety, calibration, and environmental compliance standards.Ability to safely operate and maintain spraying and turf maintenance equipment.Working conditionsWork is primarily outdoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.This job description does not imply that the above are the only responsibilities assigned to this position. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 80 lbs., up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 20 lbs. constantly. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf’s Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.Use the following safety precautions when using an 8ft. ladder:Correct placement of the ladder. The safest angle for a straight ladder is to ensure it is placed on-fourth the distance from the base to the point of support. “A” frame ladders naturally comply.Ensure the ladder is placed on a firm level surface, and do not place the ladder near a doorway.Ensure there are non-skid shoes on the ladder.If using a medal ladder, be sure that it is not near electrical wires.One person on a ladder at one time, and ensure another staff member is holding the ladder in position.Never overreach.Direct reports: NoneThis job description includes, but is not limited to, the duties and responsibilities noted above.
