Machine Maintenance Technician

Description Green Garden Products, a subsidiary of Central Garden & Pet, the number one supplier of top-quality flower seeds and non-GMO vegetable seeds for the gardening industry, has an opening for­ a Machine Maintenance Technician onsite in our Norton, MA facility. This is a non-exempt, full-time position on first shift. This position pays $25 -$30 per hour depending upon experience.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIESEnsures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Performs other duties as required to support operations.  MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION High School diploma or equivalent, preferably in a comparable vocational focus. Has 3-5 years of experience with equipment maintenanceTechnical understanding, mechanically minded, highly detail orientedQUALIFICATIONSAble to deal with uncertainty, adapts to rapid changes in schedulesAdheres to all safety requirementsExcellent attention to detail while prioritizing needsAble to communicate effectively and respectfully with all levels in the organizationIs able to be flexible and adaptable while working with little supervisionBENEFITS PACKAGE & EMPLOYEE PROGRAMSComprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceFree Life and Disability InsuranceHealth and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts401k with 3% company match and annual employer discretionary contributionPaid Time Off and HolidaysEmployee Assistance ProgramAccess to thousands of free online coursesAccess to on-demand pay Central Garden & Pet Company (NASDAQ: CENT) (NASDAQ: CENTA) understands that home is central to life and has proudly nurtured happy and healthy homes for over 40 years.
