Litigate cases in housing court, administrative forums, and other state courts on behalf of people facing eviction, and in affirmative cases challenging those who threaten Brooklyn residents' ability to retain affordable housing.Regularly appear in court, persuasively advocate for clients, conduct interviews, draft motions, prepare for trial, and negotiate settlements.Minimum Education/Experience Required: Juris Doctorate Must be admitted to New York State Bar or eligible to practice under Judiciary Law and our current Student Practice Order (take all portions of the first available NYS Bar after graduation. If one does not pass all portions the first time, must take the next available NYS Bar examination and pass the entire bar examination.Also eligible to practice under Student Practice Order if one has passed either of the 2 NYS Bar examinations as detailed above).Other Requirements: Knowledge of, and experience in, foreclosure and housing law preferred. Demonstrated commitment to poverty law and social justice work.Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills; ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment; excellent organizational skills.Ability to converse with clients in a language other than English preferred (Haitian/Creole, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, etc.) Compensation: $84,000-134,254 annually When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.Status: Full-time (35 hours per week) Benefits: CAMBA offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, paid time off (vacation, personal, and sick time), and paid holidays.
