This is the heartbeat of our organization and your time will be spent in a supportive, team environment with resources to help you flourish and leaders who care about your success.Reporting to the department manager, the Perinatal Safety Specialist is responsible for the implementation, promotion, support and oversight of perinatal patient safety and quality of care initiatives and programs. This specialized nursing role combines clinical expertise with a focus on patient safety to provide high-quality care and support to pregnant women and their families, adhering to departmental, institutional, regional and Federal clinical and ethical standards. The perinatal safety nurse will participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance perinatal care processes and outcomes, contributing to a culture of safety within the healthcare facility.Ensures all care providers on Maternal Child Health adhere to national clinical standards and principles andpractice of safety.Serves as a patient safety advocate and clinical role model in perinatal nursing obstetrics:Implements and supports patient safety and quality of care initiatives:Monitors clinical outcomesFacilitates interdisciplinary communication and educationSCHEDULE: Days and may require some evenings and weekend. Location: St. Catherine Dodge City and St. Catherine Garden CityJob RequirementsIn addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing requiredMaster’s degree or higher preferredA minimum of 5 years as a clinician in Women’s ServicesA minimum of 1 years of project experience in Women and InfantsPerinatal Safety with 2 years preferredExperience with quality improvement/process improvement techniques, project/program management experience,requiredCurrent RN License in applicable State Certification in one of the following (must obtain within 6 months): CCRN-NEO, C-EFM, RN-BC MCN, RN-BC-PERI, RNC [OB, GYN, NEONATAL], RNC-LRN, RNC-MNN, RNC-NIC, RNC-OB, C-EFM, C-ONQSBLSNRP within 90 daysProficiency in various software application, such as google or MicrosoftKnowledge and experience working within a Patient SafetyStrong ability to drive for resultsStrong facilitator with demonstrated excellence in driving multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams to consensusAbility to manage large, complex projectsAbility to summarize complex information succinctlyStrong critical thinkingSkilled at facilitating geographically dispersed teamsDetail orientedDemonstrates thought leadership, project management skills,knowledge and experience with program evaluationStrategic PlanningInterpersonal Savvy and IntegrityImplementation and Results OrientationTolerates AmbiguityCritical ThinkingInfluential NegotiationsJob and Industry Specific KnowledgeMission and CommitmentWhere You'll WorkWe believe in the healing power of humanity and serving the common good through our dedicated work and shared mission to celebrate humankindness. Our nurse-to-patient ratio, ranges from 1:1 to 1:3, ensuring personalized care to each patient. In our 10-bed unit, we serve several counties in Southwest Kansas, catering to a diverse population of farming and industrial communities. From routine deliveries to high-risk pregnancies, we're equipped to provide exceptional care to all patients. If you're passionate about providing compassionate care to mothers and infants, you'll find a home with us.The OB Post-Partum department at St. Catherine Hospital consists of 12 LDRP, one triage, one OR suite, four pediatric rooms and seven open bay NICU Level II rooms. This consists of three different units: L&D, pediatrics and NICU. We treat pregnant women, pediatric patients from two to 17 days, 32 weeks gestational to 40 weeks for NICU. This department is desirable as it is a rural, main hub, where caregivers get to see and do almost anything. We are very hands-on when taking care of patients. Candidates are welcome who are flexible and passionate about patient care. Candidates must be willing to help in other departments depending on our census. Our department is great for growing your skill and helping you on your career journey.
