We genuinely care about our team and the success and wellbeing of each team member.As an Associate Archaeologist / Principal Investigator, you would be expected run field projects (including travel with overnight stays for one week to ten days at a time), assist with report writing, peer review, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with a team.The Ideal Candidate Will Meet/Exceed the Following QualificationsGraduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related fieldProfessional Experience3+ years of experience as a Principal Investigator or Project Manager on archaeological field projects in a cultural resource management environment (leading crews, drafting reports, client communication)Conducting field surveys, Phase II & III testing projects, and archaeological monitoringExperience with shovel testing and mechanical trench excavationSignificant technical report contributions for regulatory coordinationExperience with artifact analysis (historic artifacts, lithics, ceramics, etc.), geophysical remote sensing, metal detection, and/or other specialties a plusRegulatory and Permitting ProficiencyWorking knowledge of relevant federal and state cultural and environmental resource regulations (Section 106, NEPA, Antiquities Code of Texas, and guidelines for archaeological investigations in Texas and surrounding states)Professional SkillsDetail-oriented, strong communication, data collection & analysis skillsGIS-based field data collection, analysis, and reportingExcellent technical writing and communication skillsAbility to work well independently and as part of a team, including as a team leaderAble to work with both less experienced and more seasoned staff, with the ability to know when the roles on the project need to be support vs. decision makerTime management and organizational skillsAbility to work outdoors in remote locations under various conditions (physical stamina required)Ability to be a flexible & collaborative team memberAdditional RequirementsValid driver's licenseAbility to pass security clearances and background checksThe base salary range for this position is $60k to $70k per year, commensurate with experience. Discretionary bonuses are offered for exceptional performance.
