Our mission is to combine therapeutic strategies with academic instruction to foster independence, confidence, and lifelong learning.Who We AreThe Academy of Exceptional Learners is a therapeutic homeschool-style program serving kindergarten through 2nd grade students. Grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), our classrooms are small, structured, and individualized. Each student receives one-on-one support from a trained ABA therapist, and classrooms are led by teachers who blend academic learning with adaptive, social, and emotional development.Your RoleAs a Lead Teacher, you will:Lead a classroom of up to 8 students, each with full-time 1:1 ABA therapist supportDesign and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Virginia Standards of LearningAdapt curriculum and classroom routines to meet a range of communication styles, learning profiles, and behavior plansFoster functional academics, social-emotional learning, and adaptive living skillsCollaborate with RBTs, BCBAs, and leadership to implement behavior support strategies and monitor progressMaintain a structured, nurturing, and joyful classroom environment where every child can grow and succeedQualificationsMinimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in special education or a self-contained classroomBachelor’s degree required; Special Education licensure strongly preferredExperience working with students with autism and developmental delaysStrong classroom management, lesson planning, and individualized instruction skillsCollaborative, flexible, and passionate about helping every child reach their full potentialWhy Work With Us?Extensive ABA training and hands-on support from experienced behavior analysts and therapistsA collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on innovation and excellence in educationOpportunities for career advancement, mentorship, and professional developmentA unique model that allows you to focus on teaching while being supported by a highly trained therapy teamCompensation$50,000 Annually, based on experience and licensureBenefits401(k) with employer matchingPaid time off and holiday breaksHealth, dental, vision, and life insuranceParental leaveHealth savings account optionsProfessional development assistanceConsistent Monday–Friday schedule with no nights or weekendsScheduleMonday to Friday8:00 AM – 4:00 PMFull-time onlyLocationIn-person – Virginia Beach, VATo ApplySubmit your resume and a brief cover letter sharing why you’re the right fit for our team.
