Consistent performance has helped the hospital be nationally recognized for patient safety.Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Assist the physician in the direct care of patients in the operating room environment. Handles instruments and supplies necessary during the surgical procedure. Competent in the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure. Maintain sterile field.Demonstrate proper handling of surgical specimens. Assist in cleaning, both routine and terminal and stocking the operating room. Adhere to Association of Surgical Technologists and Association of Operating Room Nurses guidelines.  Job Requirements:Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.Must become certified through the NCCT or NBSTSA within one year of hire.BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.High School diploma or GED.Preferred Job Requirements: One year of experience as a Surgical Tech.
