The Opportunity We are working with companies in Plainwell that are adding Cost Accountants to their teams. These organizations value quality over speed in hiring. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead. Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and report on root causes. Perform inventory valuation for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. Prepare detailed cost reports and profitability analyses for management. Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process for production costs. Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies. Provide cost data to support product pricing decisions and new product development. Recommended Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights Bonus Qualifications Advanced proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Experience with ERP system implementations or upgrades. Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
