Psych Emergency Svc Specialist Summary Responsible for answering HelpLine telephone inquiries for safe, efficient, and timely triage of callers to assure that patients presenting with psychiatric/substance abuse are directed to the appropriate level of care. Functions performed on the telephone include, triaging of patients to appropriate intensity level: emergent, urgent, and routine care; coordinating of admissions to inpatient and outpatient acute programs; scheduling of urgent and ambulatory appointments; assisting in appropriate linkage to services in the community; and tracking log of all inquiry calls including demographics, referral source, and disposition. Responsible for providing face to face triage or tele-assessments of patients presenting with psychiatric/substance abuse to Parkview Emergency Departments. Coordinates patient screening, confers with other staff, and provides clinical information to physicians to make an appropriate recommendation for level of care or outpatient referral. Provides education about community resources and how to access services when screening patient and family mental health needs and providing services. Education Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field. Licensure/Certification CPI required upon hire or within 3 months of employment. CPR required upon hire or within 3 months of employment. Experience 2 years in the health care or social service field, psychiatric hospital experience preferred. Other Qualifications Must be available to work flexible hours and days of the week including weekends and evenings, must have good verbal and written communication skills, must be able to lift 50 pounds; 100 pounds shared lifting.
