Role snapshotStep into the plant's go-to role for capital delivery. As the sole project manager on site, you will take every capital initiative from first concept to final handoff. Your day might start on the production floor validating a layout update, shift to refining equipment models in CAD, and end with a board-ready ROI brief for senior leadership. You will translate business strategy into engineered solutions—owning scope, cost, schedule, and results.What you'll ownFull lifecycle delivery of plant capital projects—from ideation, justification, and design through procurement, installation, commissioning, and closeout.Active partnership with the local leadership team to convert strategic plans into practical, phased CapEx roadmaps aligned with the plant master plan.Development of capital requests and approval materials, including executive presentations up to the President level.Hands-on engineering using CAD to produce and revise manufacturing area and machine layouts, plus design of equipment guards and auxiliary components as needed.Procurement leadership: specify, source, and track materials and services; coordinate vendors; manage contracts and change orders.Contractor oversight for safety, quality, schedule, and cost compliance, including risk identification and mitigation.Financial stewardship: ROI modeling, cost tracking, variance analysis, and progress reporting to plant and corporate stakeholders.Compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards; champion HSE practices and 5S on the shop floor.Direction of project engineers, technicians, and contractors when project staffing requires it.What you bring5+ years managing capital projects in manufacturing or industrial settings.Proven capacity to run multiple projects of varied size and complexity in parallel.Advanced CAD experience for plant and equipment layouts (AutoCAD or comparable tools).Track record coordinating contractors, vendors, and engineering partners.Strong analytical judgment, problem-solving, and sound decision-making.Clear written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Self-directed leadership as the plant’s primary project manager.Willing and able to travel approximately 25%.Preferred qualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related engineering discipline. Applicants without a degree will be considered with strong capital project experience and design capability.Background in aluminum, metals, or other heavy manufacturing environments.Depth in ROI/capital justification and planning for growth initiatives.Knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and quality requirements for equipment installation.Experience with risk management and contractor supervision.Core competenciesCross-functional collaboration and leadershipTechnical rigor and analytical thinkingDecisiveness and creative problem solvingProject planning, prioritization, and time managementConcise written and oral communicationResults orientation and follow-throughHigh ethical standardsWork settingSplit between office and plant floor.
