Collins has an opening for a Hydraulic Structural Engineer in our Denver, CO office. The primary responsibility of this role is conducting Scour Plan of Actions for bridge structure safety inspections as well as hydrographic surveys. You will be expected to utilize procedures for estimating local scour at bridge piers and abutments and utilize analytical techniques to determine the need for Scour Plan of Actions. This role offers the chance to work with industry leaders while using innovative technology. This position requires proficient use of HEC-RAS software. This position is a combination of design and field work with some travel required. This position will provide the opportunity for growth, where continuing development and participation in professional societies will be encouraged and supported. Position Description TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provides technical engineering information to Project Manager to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions. Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on-field and/or design issues. Independently performs moderately difficult engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices. Assists in proposal preparation. Oversees the use of computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services. Is active in technical societies. Serves as a coach for engineering and technical staff. Responsible for small to moderately difficult projects from inception to completion. Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours. Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters and administrative staff. Follows established communication processes and systems to ensure effective communication with staff, clients and corporate office. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 8 years’ experience or the equivalent thereof.  Experience in the inspection and/or design of, but not limited to, bridges, roadways, railroads, marinas, and/or ports. Successful completion of NHI 135046 Stream Stability and Scour course Proficient in HEC-RAS software CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) required Professional Land Surveyor ( PLS) a plus Valid driver’s license  Additional Information . Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  As a federal contractor, Collins Engineers is a drug and alcohol-free workplace.  Collins Engineers, Inc. is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action/M/F/Vet/Disability Employer.
