PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT   SITE OF SERVICE:
  • Fayetteville VA Medical Center, 7300 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.   POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS: ·         Education : Bachelors or Masters degree in Physician Assistant Study. ·         Accreditation : Degree must be from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARCPA). ·         Licensure(s): o    Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S.
Virgin Island. o    Possess a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). o    Registration certificate National Provider Identifier (NPI). ·         Certifications:
  • Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). ·         Cardiac Certifications : Must have the following hands-on certification through the American Heart Association o    Basic Life Support (BLS) ·         Experience:    Examine, diagnose, and treat patients under the supervision of a physician with 5 years of experience ·         U.S.
Citizenship:
  • Shall be a U.S. citizen. ·         English Language Requirement:  Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers. ·         Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.   DUTIES: ·         Direct Patient Care: .
Contractors shall be responsible for clinic appointments and follow-up of labs/imaging/procedures ordered during these appointments, interpretation, phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients, and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service. ·         Scope of Care:
  • Contract personnel shall be responsible for providing Family Practice and interventional Family Practice consultative services for: assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting; outpatient include both scheduled and unscheduled Veterans.
Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral. ·         Record/document health appraisal information, clinical assessments, treatment decisions, plan of care, ongoing management and therapeutic outcomes, order medications, diagnostic test and referral consultations where needed for every patient encounter.   HOURS:
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM This is  NOT  a telehealth position.    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required.
  • Time management skills required.
  • The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential.
  • High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
