Our purpose is to create a safe and reliable world, and our mission is to deliver assurance through precise technical and professional services. Position: Welding Qualification Manager - Tempe, AZ. This is a permanent position requiring relo to the Tempe, AZ region. Relocation Assistance available. Responsibilities/Duties: Communicate with customers to develop project proposals outlining scope, cost, schedule, equipment, samples, and applicable standards. Serve as the primary customer contact for technical questions, project updates, and scheduling. Review and interpret local, state, and national codes and standards to determine project applicability and compliance. Manage projects from proposal through completion, ensuring technical, schedule, and budget requirements are met. Coordinate with technical staff to define project requirements and maintain progress toward deliverables. Prepare, review, and approve technical reports, test data, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and client specifications. Develop and implement inspection, testing, and evaluation methods for materials and welded products. Prepare Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) in accordance with code requirements. Must be familiar with industrial metal joining processes (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper) and associated metallurgical testing methods. Provide welder training, certification oversight, and recommendations for welding techniques and methods. Review and maintain calibration records, technical procedures, and test software to ensure conformance with standards. Mentor and train technical personnel; support staff hiring, performance evaluations, and development programs. Collaborate with other departments and business development teams to support new project and client opportunities. Work with laboratory staff to maintain equipment calibration and support maintenance of related systems. Qualifications Requirements/Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold a or in a welding-related or engineering field and be an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI). Applicants must meet the minimum requirements, provide documentation of education, training, and experience; have a working knowledge of industrial environments and general manufacturing processes; ability to effectively communicate with other departments, and customers to report issues and solve problems. All applicants require the following: Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills written and verbal. Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Work Conditions: Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection. Work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man-baskets, etc. Work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc. Work in and around operating equipment and industrial environments. Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners, penetrants, film developing chemicals, etc. Work shifts up to 12 hours/day and 7 days/week and travel for extended periods of time as needed Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
