MaineHealth Maine Medical Center is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our team in Portland, Maine on a per diem basis, working on weekends. We are a cohesive team representing many disciplines, including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Pharmacists, Resident Physicians and Medical Students. We value teamwork and strive to nurture a supportive environment. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides psychiatric consultation to inpatients at Maine Medical Center. The candidate should have comfort working with patients with substance-use disorders.
They provide face to face psychiatric evaluations and medication recommendations to patients in medical/surgical units. Due to the hospital-based setting, an ability to multitask and manage acute clinical scenarios is essential. This is to work on a per diem basis on weekends in Portland, Maine.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree with an advanced knowledge of nursing and/or medical theory and practice Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure. Current BLS certification. 2+ years of patient care in ambulatory mental health or hospital is preferred. Advanced skill and knowledge in psychiatric diagnosis and psychopharmacology.
