Overview UWH of The Carolinas Laboratory is currently seeking an Accessioner I to work with cytology, histology, and molecular specimens. Experience in in medical terminology and data entry is preferable. Processors will perform various support activities for laboratory technical staff including specimen receipt and triage, ordering and stocking of materials, cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining laboratory workspace Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM–2:00 PM ResponsibilitiesReceive and process specimens consistent with specimen requirements for testing including positive patient identification, appropriate specimen collection container and specimen transport requirements.Identify and accurately label specimens and distribute them to the appropriate testing areaPerform clerical and administrative dutiesOrganize and monitor lab supplies for appropriate inventory levels as directed by laboratory leadershipCommunicate specimen non-conformities to technical staff and/or laboratory leadershipClean and maintain work area and all lab equipment and suppliesFollow all health and safety regulations when handling laboratory specimensComply with chemical hygiene and/or laboratory safety proceduresComply with all lab procedures, processes, and methodologiesAssists all technical laboratory staff and leadership with additional duties as needed.
